RECIPES - TRADITIONAL BEEF BURGERS
Good old fashioned beef burgers, perfect for al fresco summer eating!
2 tbsp Sunflower Oil
1 Medium Onion, Finely Diced
450g Round Steak Mince
75g Mr Crumb Fresh Breadcrumbs
1 Egg
Black Pepper
Chopped Fresh Herbs (optional)
To Serve
Thick Fresh Burgers Buns, Halved
Slices Mature Cheddar Cheese
Mr Crumb Red Onion Marmalade
(Serves 4)
Method
- Sautee the onions in 1 tbsp oil over a medium heat until soft. Leave to cool slightly.
- Add the minced beef, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, black pepper and herbs, if desired, to a large mixing bowl. Mix well and form into four large burgers of even thickness. Press down well to compact the mixture so that it won’t fall apart during cooking. Leave to rest in the fridge for one hour before cooking, covered with clingfilm.
- Heat the rest of the oil in a large pan over a high heat. Add the burgers and fry for two minutes on each side until well browned. Turn the heat to low and cook for a further 10-20minutes (depending on thickness). Ensure the burgers are well cooked – the juices should run clear when the burger is press with a fork and there should be no pinkness in the middle.
- Toast the burger buns under the grill, add the burgers and pile high with slices of cheese and plenty of Mr Crumb Red Onion Marmalade. Delicious!
